After James admits that his parents are actually dead, she breaks up with him and tells him to get help.
He tries to pass it off as something Chris told him, but Irene grows suspicious and tries to leave. Mick stops her and tells her she is not leaving him again. He then kidnaps Irene and uses her phone to text Olivia Fraser Richards . Mick tells Irene that he is the son she gave up when she was a teenager, but she refuses to believe him.

When Tank tells Skye they cannot spend any more time together, she kisses him. Evie later tells Skye to be careful, as she does not want her to go through the same ordeal. Skye realises Tank still loves Evie and accidentally tells her, making things difficult for Tank.
Trystan begins watching Charlotte King and sends her a note revealing that he knows she murdered Denny Miller . When he learns that Charlotte is planning on leaving the Bay he sabotages her car to stop her. It soon emerges that Trystan is working for Trevor Gunson who believes Darryl Braxton has faked his death. Trystan forces Charlotte to get close to the people in Brax's life, starting with his half-brother Kyle Braxton . When Kyle sees Trystan arguing with Charlotte, she tells him that he has been blackmailing her, so Kyle attacks him.

Skye tries to escape, but Carol grabs her and held her hostage. Carol continues to blame Skye for Lisa's death and Oscar barged into the house and rescues Skye from her mother. Carol was taken away by the police and was placed in a psychiatric facility.
Katarina Chapman and Ryan Kelly were introduced in the same month. Martin Ashford's sister, Billie Ashford arrived in April, while Charlotte King made her first appearance in June. James Edmunds and Charlotte's teenage son Hunter King made their debuts in July.

Mingay described Trystan as "a dark and shady character", while The Daily Telegraph's Matt Bamford commented that he was "tempestuous" and would cause trouble in Summer Bay. Mingay later told Gavin Scott from TV Week that he relished the chance to play a villain, as he had mostly portrayed funny characters before. He commented, "The go-to for a lot of guys portraying villains is to be scary, but I tried to be a bit more calculating." He also branded his character "a shark in a suit", as he is well turned out. The actor revealed that Trystan would be interacting with Charlotte King , saying that would cause "a massive headache" for her.
They spend the day watching films and Lindsay tries to kiss Hunter, but he tells her he just wants to be friends. Lindsay steals Alf Stewart's ute and Hunter is knocked unconscious trying to stop her. She later meets up with Olivia, who tells her to leave town or she will call the police about Hunter's accident. At the wake, Skye tells Olivia and Hunter that Tank killed Oscar and Hannah. Hunter immediately tell his father, Zac MacGuire , and Evie.
He forgives Skye and they continue to spend time together. Skye learns Tank is responsible for the explosion at the Caravan Park that killed Oscar and Hannah Wilson and ends her friendship with him. Of his casting, Mingay said "It's awesome news, I'm thrilled to be working on a show that has great value, a strong storyline and is well shot." Tank accidentally bumps into Evelyn MacGuire on the beach. They later run into each other at Angelo's and Tank asks Evie for her number. Evie's ex-boyfriend, Josh Barrett notices Tank and Evie together, and he tries to warn Evie off him.
While she recovers, Hope tells Raffy not to trust the Morgans. Raffy soon learns that she is related to the Morgans and that Hope is not her sister. Hope steals money from Salt, but she is caught and arrested by Kat.
In Ireland, Home and Away debuted on Monday, 3 October as part of RTÉ's re-launch of RTÉ2 as Network 2 - their secondary channel. Episodes screened at 6.30pm and in September 1997, a daytime episode was added at 1.25pm on RTÉ One with the 6.30pm episode becoming the replay of the daytime broadcast. A repeat of the week's episodes is aired on Saturdays and Sundays on RTÉ2. Viewers in the Republic of Ireland are also able to catch up with episodes on the RTÉ Player. It was the most watched program of 2014 on the RTÉ Player with over four million viewers.
S official Australian Facebook page reached one million likes, becoming the first Australian television show to reach this milestone. The Facebook page was established in November 2009 and is followed by fans mostly in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway and the United Kingdom. In 2013, Home and Away celebrated its 25th anniversary and former cast member Kate Ritchie returned for a special storyline to coincide with the celebrations.
Lindsay tries to contact Hunter King , but he refuses to take her calls. She introduces herself to Hunter's girlfriend Olivia and reveals that she was the person who picked Hunter up the night he left Summer Bay. Hunter thanks Lindsay for letting him stay with her and she explains that she wanted to see him after reading that his father is in prison. Lindsay also mentions that she plans on staying for a while, but adds that she does not want to ruin Hunter and Olivia's relationship. However, she later tells Olivia that she and Hunter kissed.
Tank and Evie spend more time together and consummate their relationship, but they forget to use protection. After spending the evening at his place, Evie questions Tank's commitment to her, after a comment from one of his friends. Tank flirts with Maddy Osborne , leading Evie to ask if they can slow their relationship down. She later witnesses Tank arguing with Greg Snelgrove on the beach and Tank reveals that Greg is his father. He tells Evie that Greg is physically abusive towards him.
During the first season alone, it featured several adult-themed storylines such as teen pregnancy, rape, drug and alcohol addiction, drug overdose and attempted suicide. The series has dealt with similar storylines over the years which have often exceeded its restricted time slot. Palm Beach in Sydney's Northern Beaches district has been used as the location for Summer Bay since 1988. The exterior scenes are filmed mainly at Palm Beach, while the interior scenes are filmed at the Australian Technology Park in Redfern. Mick comes to the Beach House on the pretence that he is Chris Harrington's uncle. While looking through some photos, Mick makes a comment about Irene acting as a surrogate for her daughter.
